Google says,”Android is the operating system that powers over 1 billion smartphones and tablets. Since these devices make our lives so sweet, each Android version is named after a dessert: Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, and Jelly Bean. As everybody finds it difficult to stay away from chocolate we decided to name the next version of Android after one of our favorite chocolate treats, Kitkat®!”
Sundar Pichai has just confirmed that the next upcoming version of their Android OS will be called KitKat aka Android 4.4. After JellyBean all eyes were expecting a major update sooner or later this year. Following their name convention came the turn of K-letter.
Google got Nestle’s support in using their trademark KitKat for their upcoming Android version 4.4. Everyone was expecting the name KeyLimePie but Lagerling said very few people got the taste of KeyLimePie. So they started searching for something everyone must have tasted. Then came a conference call from Nestle back in November 2012. And the deal was sealed and signed within 24 hours.
