Computex Taipei 2013: 2nd Largest Computer Expo

Computex Taipei 2013  or Taipei International Information Technology Show is one of the world’s largest computer expo held annually. In today’s date, Computex Taipei is largest computer exhibition in Asia and second largest in the world, next to CeBIT of Germany.  This year Computex Taipei is going to be held between June 4 and June 8, 2013.

Each year the technology leaders around the world came here to showcase their latest developments and products. As large number of business houses have their research and development facilities in Taiwan, Computex Taipei attracts a huge number of observers, analysts, and journalists from all over the world to discover and report the latest developments, technologies, and trends. COMPUTEX is co-organized by government-funded TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) and private sector Taipei Computer Association (TCA).

History of Computex Taipei:

The first computer show was held in 1981 with the name Taipei Computer Show in Songshan Airport Exhibition Hall. Stan Shih, former TCA head proposed to change the name of the expo in its fourth edition.

In 1986, Computex was held in the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) Exhibition Hall on Xinyi Road of Taipei City for the first time and till now it is the major location for the expo. Computex become so much famous that they have to open the 2nd and 3rd hall of the Taiwan World Trade Center.

In 2003, Computex Taipei was scheduled to be held in June but due to severe acute respiratory syndrome outbreak it was postponed till September. 1241 exhibitors and a total of 2419 booths were established for the exhibition and from then Computex Taipei became the world’s second largest IT trade show of the world (after CeBIT) and the largest in Asia, with participation from major manufacturers such as Intel, AMD, NVIDIA, and others, as well as Taiwanese brand names such as Acer and ASUS.
