First Firefox OS developer phone sold out:

Now the developer has got something new and interesting to play with. Earlier unveiled Firefox OS phone was recently available to the developers worldwide and to the astonishment it was sold out the very same day. The main motive of the company was to avail the developers so that they can scrutinize and test it before it open market for the end-users.

The first Firefox OS powered phones are manufactured by a leading Spanish tech company, GeeksPhone. Generally this phone comes with a tag of “Firefox OS developer preview“.

Mozilla’s director of developer management, Stormy Peters quotes, ”Having the actual device help the developers to test the capabilities of Firefox OS in a real environment with a mobile network and true hardware characteristics like the accelerometer and camera,” . GeekPhone has released two models of Firefox OS phones, Keon and Peak. The company has started taking orders for the next slot of production and is shipping the phones worldwide.

The Keon is comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor, has 512MB RAM and inbuilt space of 4GB. It features a 4.3-inch qHD IPS screen. It has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

On the other hand the Peak is comes with a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and features a 4.3-inch qHD IPS screen. It also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.

The main motive such limited release is to target the developers as Firefox OS is still evolving. The end-user devices running Firefox OS are expected to launch by summer in Brazil, Colombia, Hungary, Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Venezuela. Mozilla’s insight is to reach 11 more markets by the end of the year, and the US in 2014.

Mozilla has earlier previewed Firefox OS in February in Mobile world congress. Beside the Spanish phone making company, other leading phone producers like Alcatel, LG and Sony has planned to make Firefox OS phones. This fox might turn out to be the cunning one.
